• Turkey thigh meat is an excellent low-fat dark meat choice.  (100 g (3 1/2 oz) of roasted turkey thigh meat contains less than 175 calories and only 5 grams of fat.
  • Turkey thighs are available bone-in or boneless and skin on or skinless.  One thigh varies in weight from 100 g (1/4 lb) boneless and skinless to over 450 g (1 lb) each.
  • When purchasing turkey thighs with bone and skin on, allow 30% more weight.  (I.e. If your favorite recipe calls for 454 g (1 lb) of thigh meat, purchase 600 g (1-1/3 lb) of thigh with bone and skin on.
  • Try baking turkey thighs in your favorite sauce –  cacciatore, ragout, barbecue, Thai, black bean, etc.  Simply brown thigh pieces place in baking dish and pour sauce over top.  Cover and bake at 170 Deg.C (350Deg.F) for 1-1/2  hours.
